How to use the Home Remodeling Cost Estimate Calculator
Each Estimate relies on user supplied values to acurately calculate the cost of remodeling. Once you choose the type of estimate you would like to calculate, you will need to take proper measurements to supply to the calculator. The remodeling estimator accepts three types of measurements.
Quantity Marked By: Qty
Linear Feer Marked By: LF
Square Feet Marked By; SF
When To Use Each Measurement Type
Quantity: Is used on estimates such as Replacment Windows. You must count how many items you need and enter that quantity in the designated field.
Linear Feet: For estimates that require length such as countertops or the width of a deck. It's best to use measuring tape or a yard stick to calculate these lengths.
Square Feet: When measuring for flooring or painting a wall you need to find the square feet. View the formula below to learn how to calculate square footage.
To calculate square feet or the "Area" you must multiply the length by the width. So for a room that is 10FT wide and 10FT long the Area or SF equal 10 x 10.
The simple equation is Area = Length x Width or A = L x W. So we can say 10FT x 10FT = 100SF
